The art of reading data sheets
The following situation may be familiar to quite a number of technical or sales-people in the thermoplastics industry: at some point in a discussion a data sheet comes on the table and your (prospective) customer points at certain values on the sheet.
Read on to learn more about data sheets and what really are…
Trouble Shooting Tips
8 Tips to aid you your injection moulding trouble shooting process:
Tool Deposit
Injection Molding – Tool Deposit
One of the more elusive issues that can manifest itself in injection molding is the occurrence of tool deposit. Tool deposit is, exactly as the word says, is the formation of a deposit on any part of the tool during operation.
Polycarbonate: black specks & worse….
Polycarbonate (PC) is a very versatile engineering polymer but who has ever moulded this resin is aware of the possibility of occurrence of black specks. Black specks are especially critical when producing transparent parts. Those experienced with the material know that if certain rules are followed in processing, the risk of the occurrence of black specks can be minimised.
Bridging
Imagine producing this cover in a transparent material with a nice matt finish and out of the blue a heavily degraded part appears, sometimes complete, sometimes partially filled. You frantically check the machine, settings, material, tool but you find absolutely nothing out of the ordinary.
The machine produces another 5 – 6 parts, the defect diminishes in severity until it looks like it never even happened. All it leaves behind are some very degraded parts and the question “What happened?”
